The Daily Mail reports that Nigel Page who recently won £56 million on the Euro Millions lottery has paid £2 million pounds to his ex wife who left him ten years ago for another man.

Nigel who did not get a consent order when they divorced, initially offered his ex wife a token £1 million pounds, but after she consulted lawyers, she whacked in a claim for £8 million.

This is as salient a warning as you can get that people should always ensure their finances are dealt with when they get divorced and not just hope that all will be fine for the sake of a few quid.

If you are getting divorced, you must always get a consent order put in place, even if you have little or no assets at the time the divorce is filed.

The future is a place where no one knows what might happen and a consent order is simply the best insurance policy money can buy.
