Non-means Tested

1. Child Benefit

This is a Universal benefit payable to all parents with care of children regardless of means. Child benefit is payable until your child reaches 19 years or leaves full time education (stops in the September of that year)

2. Severe Disablement Allowance

Severe Disablement Allowance is a tax-free benefit for people who have not been able to work for at least 28 consecutive weeks because of illness or disablement, but cannot get Incapacity Benefit because they have not paid enough National Insurance Contributions.

  • aged 16 years or over but under aged 65; and
  • who has been incapable of work for at least 28 consecutive weeks (196 days) or more; and
  • has not paid enough National Insurance Contributions to receive Incapacity Benefit.

3. Disability Living Allowance

Disability Living Allowance is a tax-free benefit paid to customers under age 65 who need help with personal care, getting around, or both because of an illness or disability.

The rate payable depends on the customer's care and mobility requirements.

A Decision Maker decides the period of entitlement and the rate of benefit payable.
