Rented PropertyThe most important issue to consider is whether the landlord will allow just one of you to continue in the property. This applies to private as well as public sector property. You will need to ask your landlord, if your financial situation will worsen whether they will accept a tenant on benefits or single parent. These are just some of the issues you will need to consider. If you live in a Council or Housing Association property you will need to enquire as to whether they can arrange for additional housing to be made available for one or either tenant. Do not just hand over the property as you will have made yourself intentionally homeless, go and get advice immediately.
