Quick divorce – Does it really exist
Quick divorce is a very popular keyword phrase on Google and other search engines, it is the 5th most popular search query in the divorce keyword category, so a lot of people are interested in getting a quick divorce.
We have done some research on divorce websites and quite a few say you can get divorced in weeks, the average they say seems to be 12.
However, today we rang 10 county courts and asked how long do you think a simple divorce would take in your court, if everything was correct and filed on time and the average time was 6 months, with London taking the longest time at 8 months and a court in the South West 4 months.
The problem is that the court service is stretched to the limit following cuts by the government and that will only get worse in April 2013 as legal aid is withdrawn for most private family law cases and the courts will be flooded with people trying to make their own applications without legal help.
So, how can these so called quickie divorce websites offer to do your divorce in 12 weeks?
Well the fact is they cannot and it is simply a marketing trick to attract your attention, and could be in breach of new advertising standards authority rules in our opinion.
The problem is if they say it will be 12 weeks, you order and then it takes 8 months, there is very little you can do to get redress.
Also, would you trust a website to deal with your divorce if they are prepared to lie to get your business?
At Divorce Online we constantly monitor the workflow at the court we use and we will be honest with how long it will take as what we don’t want is an unhappy client whose expectations have not been met.
