Is the cost of divorce putting people off?

We are seeing real evidence that the economic climate is putting people off getting divorced and the perceived cost is the main factor.

Articles in the media would lead you to believe that getting a divorce, even if you agree on everything will cost you thousands of pounds, when in fact the reverse is true.

The main costs involved in an uncontested divorce are not the cost of getting the documentation prepared, but are the cost of filing the papers at court.

Court fees now stand at £340 to file the divorce application and £45 for the final decree. If you are on low income or benefits you can get these costs set aside by an application known as court fee remission.

At Divorce-Online we have introduced a payment plan that allows you to pay for the preparation of your divorce paperwork and the court fees over 6 months.

Our managed divorce service costs £193 + court fees which would mean you could have your divorce for a monthly payment of £96.33 which is roughly the cost of 13 packs of cigarettes a month.
