Mediation & Divorce

Family mediation is a process in which an impartial mediator helps divorcing or separating couples to make decisions about their children, finances and property.

It is the preferred method of dispute resolution by the Government and Academics. If you are receiving legal aid funding for your divorce, it is likely that a meeting will be arranged to see if mediation would be suitable for you. It is therefore well worth taking a little time to discover what is involved before you go and see a lawyer.

In this section we look at what mediation is in the context of divorce and how it might affect your decision to divorce.

We have also found resources on line for you which you will find in "websites" in the right hand menu.
