Talking about divorce

The erosion of traditional support networks through the flexibility of work, moving home and smaller families does mean that for many people they feel alone and miserable and this can lead to depression and in some cases suicide.

There is help, advice and support out there.

The Internet is essentially an information and communication tool that now enables you to talk to anyone anywhere in the world about anything.

Chat and Message Boards

Your own ISP (Internet Service Provider) may have a Family Channel which includes message boards and chat rooms especially for you or there are chat rooms on other services.

Divorce-Online have our own chat rooms and message boards in our community area. All you have to do is register here.

We have selected a few good ones for you in the section "websites". Just click on the right hand menu.

Video chat and mail

There is also now video mail, and video chat using inexpensive web cam technology which means you can talk in real time to just one or a whole room of people and see them and they can see you, so a more personal relationship can be built up.

Web cams cost between £40.00 - £200.00 and are usually just plug and play, with the software on CD-ROM, easy!

Make sure that the software that comes with it has video mail and conferencing facilities such as Microsoft NetMeeting.

With the advent of subscription only Internet access, broadband, and no large phone bills this is a way of talking about and solving any emotional problems you may have that did not exist, even 3 years ago. It cannot replace family or friends as an outlet, but it can broaden your horizons. You are in the same boat as hundreds if not thousands of individuals and you have something in common with them which you can share.

Facebook and web 2.0 social networking sites

Nowadays there are new ways to communicate and many people are turning to social networking sites such as facebook and myspace to share their lives through comments, blogs, photos and events.
