Parenting Plans

These are excellent leaflets for children and parents about divorce. Links to the children's leaflets are in the children's section of Child Aid. Please have a look at this section as there is a small site for children with recommended books and a large site for teenagers. Perhaps you could tell your children to have a look.

Looking at the children's sheets in Child Aid will make it easier to see things through the eyes of your children. Ask your spouse to look at these too so you are both singing from the same songsheet...

The Parents and Children leaflet offers information and guidance on how to discuss what is happening with your children during separation and divorce:

  1. Relationship breakdown and your children
  2. Children's feelings and reactions
  3. Helping your children adjust
  4. Talking things over with your children
  5. Useful books, help lines and organisations

The Parenting Plan contains information about some of the issues that parents need to consider. There are useful sections which may be completed to record the decisions that you have reached or areas for further discussion. (It is probably best to print these off and then fill them in as you will be unable to store your replies.)
These are quite thought-provoking.
